-==+ BACKGROUND +==-

Stem City is a world that I've been developing for the past couple of years. It was originally going to be for a game, but I wasn't happy with it so I scrapped the whole thing and focused on putting it into words. Lots and lots of words.

This site has the main purpose of serving as a diet wiki for anyone interested. A lot of the older content is full of mistakes and typos. That is due to me simply trying to get my thoughts written down. I am looking to go through and remedy this so it is easier to read, but there's a lot, so it may take awhile.

Stem City doesn't try to stick to one particular overarching theme, but here are the main ones (and my views on them) that make up the core of Stem City's thematic identity:

-Cautious Empathy
(All people have stories to tell. Not all are beneficial to have sympathy for, instead best be taken as warnings.)

-Classism
(A selection of incredibly powerful individuals restricting the lower classes from hoarding any sort of wealth and controlling the government for the sake of their own interests.

See "Generalizations" belows to get a hint for how these people get to their positions of power. The best way to combat Classism is by dismantling the systems that allow the wealthy to stay ahead instead of artifically raising others up.)

-Generalizations
(People are programmed to believe their associated group's view is right. Generalizations of "other" groups, despite stereotypes holding slight truth a mass majority of the time, are one of the most dangerous weapons manipulative parties may use to achieve what they want.)

-Support Systems
(Family and friends, even if they are not perfect, are the strongest resources one can have to forge their own path in a bleak world. On the other hand, a toxic group or generational trauma can ruin somebody for the best of their life.)

-Determinism, Entropy, and Society
(All individuals possess no free will or agency. Their actions are the end result of an impossible to imagine amount of unknowable circumstances. Fate and luck are two different social ideas of the same force. There are likely rules upon rules of nature we have no concept of that effect everything. Only one thing forwards life: The natural entropy of life.

Careless nihilism should not be the discovered outcome from such revelations: Societies have been constructed to withstand entropy and is upheld by intertwined rings of groups. When these groups come into conflict, entropy increases. It does not matter who is at fault outside the scope of society's moral constructs, the best option of avoiding conflict is to reject subjectivity. However, rejecting subjectivity is against life's primary motive: Reproduction of the self. The same force that built society.

At its core, Stem City is a world built under the philosophy of: All life is inherently selfish. A government and individual's goals are no different beyond what they're comprised of; one is made of people, another is made of cells. )

This site's writing covers some traditionally difficult subjects at times:
-Drug Abuse
-Abuse
-Child Abuse
-Sexual Abuse
-Child Sexual Abuse
-Suicide

I try my best to portray these subjects tactfully when they come up; they are implemented because I am looking to write a world with all sorts of flavors of people, and these are subjects unfortunate facts of life that effect people heavily. These subjects are not meant to be glorified or romanticized when included. Colored text at the top of character pages will warn the reader when these topics are contained.
