Stem Rams are very biologically similar to humans, with a few key differences.
Stem Rams are able to go up to two months without eating and up to a week without drinking. During the second half of these periods, a ram would start to lose control of their sense of self and act out impulsively.
Stem Rams lack human-esque earlobes; their hearing is less precise than that of humans and most off-world races.
Stem Ram horns are protrusions that come out of Stem Ram heads. Their colors can be any shade of orange, and, in rare cases, a yellowish-green. They come in many shapes and sizes, depending on both the parent's and conditions in the womb. They can fully come in anywhere from 13 to 32 years of age depending on how large the horns are.
If chipped, or, in rare instances, broken off, the protrusions can take up to 6 months to fully regrow. For adults, it is considered an irritating process as it causes the entire area near the base of the horn to itch.
Stem Rams possess different colorations of teeth. They can be anywhere from pure white to rotten yellow. This is genetic and not related to brushing. Stem Ram adult teeth will actually regrow over the course of 1-2 years if a tooth is lost.
Stem Rams have perfectly white skin. They lack the ability to get tan.
There are a few rare skin conditions:
-Shadow Skin Syndrome: a gene that results in an almost completely black skin tone. There have only been a single-digit number of cases in recorded history. Interesting, it seems to be caused by the mother being obese.
-Flakes: A condition that will have the ram's skin develop a thick layer of leathery scales over their forelimbs. About 4% of the population has this strange condition. Lotion is sold by noble, specific vendors.
-Rubberrash: A body defect that causes areas of the body to turn bright red and develop blisters, warts, and pimples full of a mixture of fluid and blood that constantly irritates the skin around it. The condition affects about 0.4% of the Stem Ram population, and there is no cure.
There is a very poorly understood organ in each Stem Ram's skull alongside their brain. Only the size of a marble, it sits underneath the frontlobe and comfortably between the eyes. It has stringy, nerve-like growths that spread around each ram's brain stem but do not directly interact with the nervous system at all.
In the very few studies done on dying Stem Rams in the noble neighborhood's hospital, it has been shown that the Mycelium organ lights up whenever the ram's body functions are shutting down because of blood loss, starvation, or dehydration. Utilizing a completely unknown chemical process, the Mycelium appears to somehow take over the brain's functions, shut off the higher functions, and extend a dying ram's life for up to a dozen hours, depending on how grievous the injuries are.
