Chief Zed Meyer is a stern man who leads his nomadic tribe with great honor. His tribe and him carry religious beliefs from centuries ago. Ancient stories of mushroom men giving them the gift of fire and trickster gods watching them from the forest's underbrush.
He is extremely xenophobic towards Stem City. Like a careful shepard, the chief always makes sure his group strays away from the bright alien lights in the distance. Yet, they call to him, for they may have answers on the beast that appears in the back of his mind time and time again.
Zed has three children and five grandchildren.
Leading his militaristic tribe through the Fungal Wastes to find small Stem Slimes hives to hunt. Rarely, he sneaks off and meets with a man named Mil'ee for possible information relating to an unknown creature.
Zed has lived an ordinary Meyer tribe life. Given the chieftain's staff at the age of 46, he has led his fearless people to raid developing Stem Slime hives with brave and precise strategies.
In XX803, the Under the Tower syndicate contacted the Meyer tribe under the pretense of hiring them for Stemrail raiding. Under the chief's commands, the stranger was horribly wounded and sent back as a message to not step on their land. Ever since that, they have not been bothered by the outside world once.
One day in XX818 Q4, he experienced something unexplainable. The trickster god appeared before him. His body froze in place. It mimicked his voice, warped its flesh as his own, and flashed a devilish grin before coming towards his tribe's distant voices. He felt powerless, as if he had no control over whether they lived or died.
It was hours before he broke free from the trance its enlightened mind had forced him into. When Zed hurriedly returned to his people, they were confused. He had only been gone for two minutes?
He couldn't bring himself to mention the experience. It was twisted in the most arcane sense. For the past 2 years, the whole thing refuses to leave his head; it draws him to desire more answers. He feels lost, not sure where to go with these desires that go against his clan's creed.
One night in XX820, he set out to a nearby city settlement alone under the pretense of taking a walk. He found an alien there doing he didn't care to ask about. The alien, Mil'ee, gave no information but set up cameras to attempt to spot the beast. Every few weeks, Zed finds himself returning and asking for updates.
THE TRICKSTER GOD - Though he knows he only saw it once, its figure stains his memory. Each day, his desire to know what the encounter truly was outweighs his fear of modern civilization.
MIL'EE YIK WASH - He found Mil'ee gross when they first met but has began to open up to him about the strange experience and believe that the alien has some skill in being an outdoorsman.
