Stem Tower is a metallic tower built into the side of The Grand Shroom. The current Stem City administrator operates from its confines. The term "Stem Tower" is used to refer to both the building and Stem City's government itself.
The entire building is swarming with Lawmen Type-2 droids. A news board displaying a copy of the most recent legislation is hung up outside. The base floor is open to the public, allowing those who have lost their Markcard or have the desire to officially immigrate into Stem City to come and do so. Laws may also be requested for recitation here, with Stem Tower being the only place to get ahold of all of Stem City's legislation firsthand.
The tower contains the following floors: two floors dedicated to hosting the STEMNET, two floors dedicated to holding prisoners that haven't been committed to The Complex for one reason or another, two floors for storage and the exclusive tram to the Nexus, one floor for a sprawling science lab, five for storage (including where excess Lawmen are kept), one floor for Stem Tower's expansive but rarely used employee dorms, one for the active ruler's penthouse, and the top one allocated as the active ruler's office.
A tight ladder shaft or a set of two elevators can be used to navigate the tower. One of its elevators can have a passcode typed into a hidden keypad in order to descend into The Complex below.
Several open balconies and platforms litter Stem Tower's sides. They're rarely used.
Constructed at the same time as the Nexus, it was made so the Council of 12 could host the STEMNET's extensive database, store Nexus documents, and conduct potentially unsafe research. As the years went on, the ever-changing council became more and more comfortable with its presence in the heart of their city. They began to sleep there, hire workers to upkeep the tower, and hold all meetings exclusively in the secrecy of the top floor.
When Ahsonov took over Stem City, he became the sole living resident of the tower.
Over the years, Stem Tower hasn't changed much beyond cosmetic renovations and small comfort additions by the various Stem Tower administrators. In its centuries of operation, the number of times the tower has been illegally entered by the city's citizens is in the single digits.
