Godgrilla is a simple man with only two desires: family and grilling. He lacks acute social awareness and deeper executive functions because of constant brain fog and learning disabilities he received after a traumatic accident. These don't stop him from trying to be the sunshine in everybody's life. He's carefree, always willing to help anybody in need, and tries his best to do so.
Grilling is his one pride and joy in life. Everything in his personal life revolves around the Gillsway BBQs, which he hosts passionately every week. If he didn't have those, he'd be hopeless and directionless.
He has an incredibly hard time cleaning up after himself... unless it's his grilling supplies, in which case he can wipe them down effortlessly.
Living with Clark, Lunch, Bonnie, and Alegecia in the inner ring of Gillsway. He hosts beloved Gillsway community BBQs every week and is generally beloved by his community.
Godgrilla was a Stem City off-worlder who worked for his family's deli. He embraced a punk lifestyle and frequently helped local gangs trade black market drugs for a little bit of extra Marks. Godgrilla and his father had an extremely close bond up until he reached maturity; when Godgrilla was asked to take over the deli, he didn't know how to turn his father down.
A 22-year-old Godgrilla dodged the responsibility as long as he could. He was far too satisfied with the static nature of his life. After work, he would clock out and, instead of returning home, wander the city streets in an attempt to get away from his father's pestering questions.
During one of these strolls, he meant Ann Peelo, a fellow punk. Though she was a noble, somebody in his family didn't exactly paint in the highest light. Godgrilla and her bonded via small-time crimes such as vandalism and pickpocketing.
Their contacts in the criminal underworld grew as they pawned things off, and they eventually wanted to say that they did something that not many did manage to do in their time: using their Under the Tower friends, they managed to get led out of Stem City's towering walls via the sewer system and onto a Stemrail. They looked out at the vast horizon of Stem Island, wowed by the new view that was rarely seen.
Then the accident happened. A Stemrail train came out of nowhere and blindsighted the two young idiots. Godgrilla blacked out.
He awoke abruptly nine years later, under the care of Yenjo Spinner. His mind was scattered and slow. It was revealed to him as he recovered that she had been taking care of the reptilian alien in his comatose state after her family found him abandoned on the side of the road and weren't able to find out who he was.
From that point on, Godgrilla wasn't the same. He had suffered brain damage that left his motor and speech functions lacking, a persistent brain fog, and the inability to properly talk or take care of himself.
Yenjo employed him in the mechanics shop for the next two years as a spare muscle. She helped him regain his grasp on speech and fine motor skills. Soon enough, the man and his caretaker traveled across Stem City to go see his family. His aged father was ecstatic to see him, though reality settled in for the older man. He was not the same Godgrilla that would have been able to run the shop.
His father hid his disappointed feelings behind a shiny mask. Though Godgrilla's brain didn't quite work the same, he wasn't stupid enough to not get his own father's social cues. Feeling rejected by his once-proud family, Godgrilla kept working under Spinner Mechanics.
Sadly, Godgrilla felt like he had burdened her life too. So, one day, he managed to make a decision of his own: He would leave the city and venture out into the Fungal Plains, where he and Ann once went. In the nearly decade long period he had been blacked out, Stem City's walls had opened, so it was possible! He wanted a life of his own, not stuck to any family in particular. Yenjo, though skeptical if this was the best move, helped him travel out to Gillsway and find a shack that somebody was willing to give up.
Very quickly, the now-alone Godgrilla fell into starvation and poverty, much like many Gillsway immigrants. He scoured around and cooked any sort of wild bug he could get his hands on. He got progressively better and better at hunting bugs and proceeded to start making slabs of bug meat that mimicked off-world meat that his parents bought from the Nexus.
One rainy day, cherished memories of his childhood in the deli sparked something inside him. He needed to give people meat. Wonderfully, lovingly, sizzled, grilled meat.
It burned his chest, but he didn't care. Godgrilla found himself offering Gillsway any and all meat he could fry with innate flame breath. The other Gillsway citizens with nowhere to stay cherished his generous acts of both food and warmth. A small cult community formed around him within months, with the unruly and unkempt lizard being gifted ice boxes and proper grilling supplies for better weekly BBQs from the locals.
Godgrilla's weekly BBQs became the heart of a large portion of Gillsway's community.
As the years went by, an aging Godgrilla made a mess of the home he had been given. A homeless rat named Bonnie asked Godgrilla to move in in XX817 under the promise that she'd help him clean.
During XX818 the runaway noble Clark Yacksin offered to stay in the home under the pretense of getting them better financially. Godgrilla was more than happy to let him in.
In XX819, Lunch Armeledia broke into their home and wouldn't leave. Godgrilla doesn't care because she really liked his BBQ and helped clean up!
One normal day in Gillsway, Blema Von Voldark knocked on their rickety home's front door. She brought Godgrilla outside and explained her situation to the confused man: Blema had a niece, and she wanted to be away from the vile grasp of the city. So, Stem City's dictator wanted to drop her off in Gillsway under Godgrilla's care.
Hesitating, Godgrilla asked if he could have something in return. His request was simple: He wanted to see Ann Peelo again after all these years. Godgrilla was unaware that his old punk friend now worked directly under Blema. The city's dictator confidently said she could work things out after her niece was safe and sound.
In XX820, Alegecia Von Voldark came under Godgrilla's care. Blema promised him that Ann is a busy woman and would be coming sooner rather than later. The bouncy child and master griller quickly became close friends.
Godgrilla, though he struggles with his damaged mind and degenerate roommates frequently, is happy.
Ann Peelo - Misses her dearly despite lingering feelings of being abandoned by her.
Yenjo Spinner - His caretaker from when he was in his coma. Godgrilla has nothing but admiration for Yenjo.
Bonnie - Difficult to work with sometimes, but he cherishes her quite a lot. He would be living in a complete dump if it wasn't for her.
Clark Yacksin - Godgrilla knows he has a foul mouth but believes he has a secret heart of gold.
Lunch Armeldia - She confuses him a lot of the time. She's the biggest fan of his BBQ, so he appreciates her a lot.
Alegecia "Alex" Von Voldark - Adorable face and pleasant to have around!
