Lord Frie was a stoic man who, while amicable, was traditional, economy-focused, and infamously hard to sway. He valued his time and would not be seen wasting it on mingling with the Stem City locals. Frie had a horrible weakness for his family, though; every poor decision in his life was indirectly caused by this flaw.
He had frequent back spasms after becoming ruler.
Lord Frie was born to a 15-year-old mother and a 26-year-old father. He had an okay time in Shroom's Academy, Lord Frie, obtaining passable grades; life at home was a different story.
His father was a violent, raving man who physically and verbally abused his wife while neglecting his son. The family dynamics had a young Frie often staying at the school's public library late. He studied to avoid it all. When he was home, the boy found himself often comforting his mother.
To tell the truth, Frie didn't have many friends all throughout his education, leaving him mentally distant from most. He passed his economic specialization classes with flying colors, graduating in XX748. However, because of his lack of social skills, most of his job interviews ended up with him being rejected.
For the following year, Lord's father frequently berated him for not finding a stable job. It was something the young, traumatized man was really struggling with. Years of an awful home life left him paranoid of everybody around him and caused him to not trust any sense of authority, leading to a cycle where he acted as even more of a fool during interviews because of his fear of them.
That growing timid nature wasn't built to last.
He came home one day from a job interview to see his father sexually assaulting his weeping mother. He locked up. Even when they noticed he was there, his father didn't stop. His mother cried out for him.
Something snapped in the man's psyche. As his father finished his inhuman crime, Lord tore him to the floor and used all of his strength to stomp the monster's face in. The sheer fear on his gentle mother's face stayed with him forever. Lord opened the front door and walked out with nothing but his Markcard and clothes on him.
He ate trash out of the shadows of Stem City's dark alleyways for the next several weeks. One stormy night, the man found himself breaking into an abandoned church for shelter. Descending into its catacombs in hope of finding some sort of pantry, the disheveled man met Unnun. Her scary appearance had him fully convinced she was a hallucination caused by his recent fits of hysteria.
He couldn't have been more wrong.
The bloody nun offered to teach him the virtues of kindness, patience, and eventually, control. He submitted, the man not having the will to resist. The next seven years were spent performing rigorous training within the basement of the ancient church. Mental, emotional, and physical training allowed him to distance himself from his past and the horrific issues of the world that his brain could not handle.
Unnun's sharp hands cut and molded his body. The pain was immeasurable, but her soothing voice, which appeared to echo from all around, calmed his screaming inner voice. He went from a scrawny, scared man to a hulking, collected beast.
Over this time, his faith was converted to Stem's Origin. He learned of their purposes on Stem Island and how he fits into the Grand Shroom's plan. Finally some direction in his life; the 7 years of excrutiating training went by quicker and quicker every day.
The seventh ruler of Stem City announced Lord Frie's upcoming position at the Ahsonov Ball of XX755's Q2. That was the first time he had seen his mother in seven years. His heart, though dulled by years of extensive training, was warmed by seeing her again. She forgave him, thanked him, and hugged him.
Lord Frie was then introduced to his younger brother, a bright young ram named Stephill Frie. He connected the dots that the boy's age and his mother's words laid down: Stephill was the child born of the assault. Deep inside, the now-24-year-old Frie failed to fully grasp the swirling cauldron of love and pain that he felt. So, as his teachings preached, he ignored them. Everything was simply part of the plan.
Frie's rule was simple. The plan laid out for him wasn't as grandiose as those constructed for the rulers before: He was simply meant to upkeep the status quo. He focused on increasing the Nexus' economy, offering lower taxes, and adding additional benefits for the off-world companies trading through it.
He hired Yank Yanderson in XX771 to fill in the then-vacant Stem City scientist role.
In XX782, his brother Stephill, now a successful businessman, offered him a great plan: Since Lord was so focused on boosting the off-world economy, Stephill could take control of the Stem City economy to let Frie loose some duties. The Stem City ruler loved his brother far too much to even consider the idea of insidiousness hiding beneath. So, the STABILITY and WHISPER ACTs were passed without second thought.
And, because he loved his brother so much, Lord Frie even allowed him to build a vacation home out of the city walls. It was hush-hush, though.
The following decades saw Frie deal with a new issue: the people of Stem City demanded to be freed of its walls. None were allowed to live outside of the main city since the Era of Ahsonov, and Frie intended to keep the tradition that way. He sent Yank to have their protests broken up, even commanding him to retune the old droid Gwino to attempt to raise their morale so they wouldn't continue to yap on.
The time came when he heard of his mother's assassination by native tribesmen. They had gone and used stolen explosives to bomb Stephill's transport bus, with the businessman himself being the only survivor. Lord Frie had to pull everything together to keep himself from breaking.
He hired Ann Peelo in XX798 to replace the aging Nexus manager.
In XX799, Lord Frie was summoned back to the ancient church. There, he was introduced to Blema. Unnun explained that his time would soon be over and that it was time to usher in a new era. Had he been any less faithful, he would've argued. However, he trusted the plan. That Ahsonov Ball, he had done as the seventh had done to him: He announced Blema Von Voldark as the next in line.
He retired in XX800 to a comfortable suite in the noble neighborhood. Yank and Stephill frequently visited him. As the months passed, though, his health severely declined. The stern giant passed peacefully in XX801; an unknown disease was his cause of death.
Yank Yenderson - His loyal scientist and problem solver. Frie trusted Yank with anything and everything. Came to be somebody he considered his only friend.
Mr. Stephill Frie X of Stems - Frie loved his little brother dearly, doing anything possible to aid him in life. This, sadly, would be his downfall.
Mistress Gwino - Had her reinstated.
Blema Von Voldark - The next-in-line. Frie thought lowly of Blema, thinking her to be physically repulsive and unintelligent.
Ann Peelo - A bright woman who he hired to replace the then-aging Nexus manager.
Unnun - His teacher. He trusted her with everything.
