Tez is a reserved man who has a sharp eye, mind, and tongue. He frequently blows off friendly people, as he's not interested in making friends outside of work. His freedom and privacy are something he values highly. Underneath these aspects, he becomes jolly in private and is willing to support the few that support him. He's loyal without fault.
He hates the government's laws and believes everybody should have a say in any decision that involves them or their livelihood. Because of this outlook, he greatly opposes Stem Tower and its rule.
He is addicted to Stem Rum, having at least three bottles a day. It numbs the pain of his constantly stinging skin.
Tez currently works for Under the Tower as its main executive manager. He manages the middle managers and will personally show up to settle any external gang disputes. He sleeps and lounges in Teis' sewer house, doing chores and such for her while she's out. Infrequently, he'll shirk his reserved nature and meet up with coworkers to have fun nights in the club.
Tez was born in Stem City with loving parents who tried their best to survive the harsh slums. They lived in an especially dangerous part of town where a local street gang was demanding from the tenants on the street weekly protection fees along with apartment rent. His struggling family, growing desperate after over a decade of abuse by these delinquents, took action in their own hands.
Using a contraband firearm they did not exchange during Blema's SOFTEN ACT, his family killed one of the gang members to send a message. This resulted in a squad of Lawmen descending from up high and apprehending his parents for possessing and using the weapon, dragging them off to Stem Tower for imprisonment. This was the last time he ever saw them.
Now an orphan at the age of 13, the homeless Tez was offered a job as a drug peddler by the Under the Tower syndicate.
Years went by of him simply making an income before he decided that he wanted to finish the job. Talking to Eyeguy personally, a 16-year-old Tez convinced Eyeguy's cabinet of the gang's malevolence and that to secure all corners of the city, they should best take them out. The job was completed with minimal effort, with Tez personally leading the team of Under the Tower assassins to where the street group's base of operations was.
Tez's mental health declined slowly for a decade after, as he lived an empty and unfulfilled life. Even after getting revenge on the ones that caused his parents to be imprisoned, Tez isolated himself further and further. For a long time, he was a stationed out in the Outlands and did deals with local tribes, like the Kalstein Tribe, to go raid Stemrails.
His psyche reached a breaking point over years of unresolved loneliness; one bad day made him snap and go completely off the grid. A 25-year-old Tez knew that his parents, if the tower had just heard them out, shouldn't have imprisoned them. Buying several heavy-duty guns from Under the Tower's off-world associates, he frees the city from Blema's cruel hand.
After months of careful planning, researching, and purchasing the required materials, he set out on his own and scaled the side of Stem Tower, sneaking inside from one of its lower balconies. Tez went on a rampage inside the building, killing any and all Lawmen he came across with his assembled arsenal.
He kicked his way into Blema's office, the only thing lighting the spacious office room were flashing alarms. Tez came into contact with something that wasn't a cowering Blema; The Volva formed an ember in the dark. Bullets didn't work. Tez was lit ablaze by the foggy entity.
As bullets flew and Tez burned, the grenades he held on his belt were thrown. As The Volva pulled Tez into a world beyond, it was hit by a special magnetized grenade that damaged it. It all went dark.
His memory jumped sporadically as he fell through the tower. He found himself awake in the sewers of Stem City. Teis, Eyeguy's second-in-command, found him charred as she headed back to her house for something. Miraculously, his burns were not worsening or healing. It seemed as if his body was stuck in time, constantly stinging as if the nerves were being freshly charred.
After this incident, Tez knew he couldn't go back to shutting himself off. He had frequent nightmares of The Volva and avoided sleep for years. Teis cared for the obvious distressed man in a rare show of empathy from her, wrapping his burnt body up and letting him stay at her place.
Every waking moment of his life was spent climbing the ranks of Under the Tower until he was right alongside Teis, settling in as Eyeguy's third-in-command.
One day, he knew he'd try again to find Blema and get back at her. However, to do that, he needs information. To get information, he'd need to get men.
It was during these years that he and Teis truly became more than coworkers, with a strong friendship forming between them. For the both of them, it was the first normal friendship they had in a long time.
Eyeguy - He doesn't care too much for his boss' apathetic nature, leaving Teis to deal with him.
Teis Ztardum - Best friends. He admires her determination and is very grateful that she'll always be right there next to him when business gets rough.
Clara Kalstein - Coworker who he likes to chat up and chill with during quiet days. He actually recognized her from his Outlands days, as he sometimes did business with her father.
Doreequa VII - He thinks Doreequa is a motivated kid with lots of gumption. Though some of the comments the teenager makes towards Teis give him the impression that the boy is blinded by prejudice, They haven't been bad enough for Tez to make any remarks about yet, but it's been pretty close.
Jamison "The Unifier" Von Galax - Foggy memories.
